Do you have any plans for the weekend? Only kidding! Too bad you found the unfriendly Americans on your adventure. I hope you meet some people to hang out with. I love reading your stories.

Not much at all as of yet. It looks like it’ll be a cool place to live in a year or two, but the first businesses are just being to open. There’s a ton of construction still going on.
However, there are plenty of bars and restaurants in Byeongjeom, which is right next door.
Hey, Mike thanks for all these intersting updates. I am enjoying sharing vicariously in your experiences. The language stuff is, of course, fascinating. Many other languages are more speciifc and exact than English ( as in the numbers depending upon what you are counting.) Polish has different words for aunt, depending upon whether you are a blood relative, and what side of the family you are on. Anyway……………..keep the reports coming. I love them! Miss you. PS we swept the Angels. 0
Hey ive been in byeongjeom for about 3 days now and also work in Dongtan at a Gnb English Academy. I live opposite the Adidas shop on the main street (im assuming you know where that is…. anyway message me back if you want to meet up. Im at work at the moment so ive got to go.
No way! I thought it was you but i couldnt be sure. You were on the same bus as me tonight. I was sat on the back row next to an actually good looking korean woman.
Hi,
I enjoyed the pics of your work and other info in your website.
I’m actually considering starting a “hagwon” in Dongtan – most likely for younger children from age 6 to 9 or so (this may actually change depending on information I will be gathering) .
I would think you probably know quite a few English teachers in the area by now, and I was wondering if you have any advice from a foreign teacher’s perspective.
Thanks.
A surgeon at the hospital where I work once gave me a T-shirt that advertised a drink from Korea (or at least avalable there). On the front there were 2 big “asian-style” word characters over a picture of a frog. I was told that the English translation for the drink’s name was “True Dew”. Ever hear of it?
This year the Pats are the best football team I,ve ever seen….better than any one or even two players on it. Meaning, someone (even Brady) can be having a bad game and it doesn’t matter. They use the first quarter to study the opponent, maybe the second to try various ways of exploiting whatever weaknesses they,ve discovered. By the second half they’re completely dominating. The Giants are a really good team and were able to score regualrly, but they were never in control of the game the way the Pats were. No question….it’s all the way again this year.
Haven’t sent anything for a while, but read your site regularly. Nice that you do some traveling around to what sounds like exotic places to me. Sorry to hear about troubles at work. Staffing issues at my work too. Hired alot of morons and sleezy people about 1-2 years ago and paying for it now. Five people terminated since Feb for everything from stealing drugs to calling in sick all the time to leaving without notice in the middle of their shift. Seemed to have a very casual attitude about their work; don’t get it that if they screw up patients could be harmed or worse. Tons of snow in NH and ME this year; sure you heard that from your dad. Just got back from a 4 day ski trip with Cliff (sister’s husband) to Sugarloaf in Maine. It was fabulous…great weather & wonderful conditions. They’ll be skiing there right thru April and into May I’m sure. Our family is fine. Fred got a descent full time job after looking for many weeks. The economy sucks!! Ten’s of thousands of jobs are being lost every month as companies cut back. Experts are begining to admit that we’re entering a recession. Hey, maybe with all the people leaving your business you might get a promotion cause you have more experience than anyone who’s left?? Maybe you don’ want that, huh? OK, see ya later – Bob
My name is Meliza, I’m fron Seattle. I just moved here about a week ago to teach English at Yadang High School. I was wondering if you can give any helpful tips on where to find teaching books, an easy way to learn the bus system and cool places to go?
